Understanding income tax is an essential part of financial awareness for salaried professionals, executives, business owners, and individuals across Bangladesh. With the updated Income Year 2025–26 and Assessment Year 2026–27 tax structure, it is important to understand how the revised tax slabs and minimum tax rules may affect personal financial planning.

This article provides a simple breakdown of the updated income tax structure in Bangladesh, including tax rates, special tax-free thresholds, and minimum tax requirements.

Income Tax Slabs for Assessment Year 2026–27

According to the updated tax structure, individual taxpayers and Hindu Undivided Families (HUF) will be taxed based on the following annual income slabs:

  • Annual Income (BDT)Tax Rate
Up to BDT 375,000 - No Tax
    Next BDT 100,000 (up to BDT 500,000) - 10%
    Next BDT 300,000 (up to BDT 800,000) - 15%
    Next BDT 400,000 (up to BDT 1,200,000) - 20%
    Next BDT 800,000 (up to BDT 2,000,000) - 25%
    Above BDT 2,000,000 - 30%

This progressive tax system means taxpayers only pay higher tax rates on the portion of income that falls within each slab.

The government has maintained special tax-free thresholds for specific taxpayer groups to ensure inclusivity and financial support.
